The NTT Docomo booth at the Mobile World Congress is always a good place to find a remarkable and unique mobile product. Next to the wooden smartphone, the NTT Docomo Touch Wood, we also ran into the NTT Docomo F-04B handset. On the whole it looks futuristic, especially when it appears that by pushing on the bottom of the NTT F-04B, it can be split into two pieces. The fun part is that the separate pieces can still communicate with each other through Bluetooth technology. Additionally, very ingenious, it is even possible to choose which or both pieces will be used for communication. Both pieces have a microphone and speaker. But how does the battery work?

HTC Mobile was also present and presented several interesting mobile products during the Mobile World Congress in Spain, including the new HTC Legend Smartphone. The display is not only remarkable in terms of format; the screen is a multi-touch AMOLED-type screen, so that the color saturation and contrast are immediately noticeable.

Remarkable affairs at the Mobile World Congress will always exist, but in the domain of manufacturers and hardware, not many things were presented at the Mobile World Congress that caused a stir. There is of course the case of Nokia that announced early on that they would not be present at the MWC 2010, at least not on the show floor. What Nokia did do, was rent a location in Barcelona at the same time of Mobile World Congress and wait for visitors to show up. It is hard for us to say if this was a good idea. In any case, we did not go, and seeing the publications written about Nokia, we don’t get the feeling that this was a bad decision.

Toshiba launched the TG01 Smartphone during the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. Then, a smartphone with the fastest processor available, but unfortunately the Toshiba TG01 Smartphone lacked true high-end technical specifications to beat last year’s competition. The mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona gave Toshiba a second chance. The Toshiba TG02 Smartphone did not really come as surprise. We had a look at the new Toshiba TG02 Windows Smartphone.
