Silent Player selected as the official training partner of the Washington Mystics
DALLAS, TX July 3, 2004 -- SPORTS Improvements, LLC (SI) signed a marketing partnership with Washington Sports and Entertainment (WSE) to initiate the launch of the Silent Player™, beginning with the Washington, D.C. area. SI, dedicated to sports improvements, created and markets the revolutionary Silent Player™ sports training tool available in three configurations. With this tool, athletes can perform training drills that mimic a game-like pace, hone focus, and experience substantially fewer injuries. All three models replace the typical, ineffective training tools, and provide skill improvement in the critical fundamentals and overall, or targeted, performance enhancement. SI successfully test marketed the apparatus with professional and collegiate coaches, trainers and players. Kevin Garnett, of the Minnesota Timberwolves and 2004 NBA MVP, practices with a Silent Player. Trainer Tim Grover, president of A.T.T.A.C.K. Athletics, uses several models with his premiere NBA clientele. The training apparatus effectively simulates opposing players, and brings back excitement to the fundamental drills—mastery of which elevates players to their best game.
Dar'rell McDonald, CEO and founder of SPORTS Improvements says, "I created the Silent Player™ for mainly two reasons. Our training tool emphasizes the fundamentals. And does it with a safety factor missing in current training drills."
SI markets three Silent Player™ (www.silentplayer.com) training models, the Defender, the Middleman and the Downlo. The current marketing programs concentrate on basketball, but the tool provides elevation of skill training in eight different sports. SI anticipates the Silent Player™ becoming a must-have for any athletic program, training facility or serious athlete. The partnership with WSE supports that focus with the added bonus that both organizations share a commitment to youth.
Brian Cawley, Director of Corporate Marketing for WSE and 14-year veteran of sports marketing, says, "Our relationship with Sports Improvements will serve as a springboard for their brand in the Mid-Atlantic Region. We are looking forward to assisting SI become one of the pre-eminently known training models for youth."
WSE, headed by Chairman Abe Pollin, owner of the NBA's Washington Wizards and WNBA Washington Mystics basketball teams, operates the MCI Center. This six-year old state-of-the-art arena houses the Wizards, Mystics, NHL Capitals and Georgetown Hoyas in addition to headliner concerts and other sporting events, such as the upcoming Mystics-Silent Player Youth basketball Clinic. The Washington Mystics (www.washingtonmystics,com) coaching staff and players will facilitate the three hour clinic, which will utilize the Silent Player™ training models. Legendary University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers coach Pat Summit will lead the coaching staff for the clinic that will include skills exhibits for area coaches.
Mr. McDonald always relishes when a great such as Summit utilizes the Silent Player™. "Like many of the great coaches, I believe that the foundation of phenomenal athletes begins with the fundamentals. And I love the idea of being a part of youth clinics since one of our main objectives is to aid the youth athletes. They're still growing and safety is as crucial as skill elevation. After all the potential life-altering injury of a young athlete inspired me."
The SI/WSE partnership includes events like the youth clinic, as well as other basketball marketing projects. WSE will also feature the Silent Player™ on the Mystics web page, which averaged 28,200 visits per week. SI also looks forward to helping fill the full schedule of entertainment consistently provided at the MCI Center. WSE placed a Defender training model on display in front of Model's Sporting Goods store at the world class arena. Both companies anticipate the potential of WSE clients becoming sponsors on the training apparatuses at future sports exhibits and events.
"I am psyched about SI's partnership with WSE. It will be an incredible venture for both of us. Brian Cawley, and the rest of the WSE staff, has been exceptionally supportive from day one. To be the training partners with a team with such a loyal fan base, and featured in Washington's premier sports and entertainment complex puts us firmly on our intended path. We anticipate this partnership to become a template for future launches. We're in phenomenal hands with Washington Sports and Entertainment."
