1. Selecting Wave Output Device
By default Midi2Wav uses Wave Mapper -- the device which is specified in your system settings (you can see it by choosing Settings / Control Panel / Multimedia / Audio).

To change Wave Output device:
- Open menu item Settings / Select Devices and Test Recording.
- Select Wave Output (Playback) device from the drop-down list.
- Press Select Devices button.
Warning: Sometimes Wave Output (Playback) drop-down list includes the devices which cannot be used for playback. When you select this device and start playback, Midi2Wav Recorder warns that.

2. Opening, Positioning and Playing Wave
> Opening Wave File
To open Wave file you can either:

- Click "open file button" on the Wave toolbar
- Choose Wave / Open Wave.
> Positioning Wave Playback
You can change a Wave playback position before starting Wave playback or while playing Wave file.

To change Wave playback position:
- Click the slider on Wave trackbar and drag. While dragging, the current Wave position is displayed in Play Position box.

For handling Wave playback you can use Wave panel buttons or commands of Wave menu:

> To start Wave playback:
- Click Start button on the Wave panel
- Choose Wave / Play Wave.
> To pause the playback:
- Click Pause button on the Wave panel
- Choose Wave / Pause Wave.
> To restart the playback from current position:
- Click Pause button on the Wave panel
- Choose Wave / Pause Wave.
> To stop the playback and return to the beginning:
- Click Stop button on the Wave panel
- Choose Wave / Stop Wave.

3. File Info. Playback Statistics

> File Info
The File Info field of Wave panel displays the following information about loaded file:

Size -- the size of loaded file in Kb (bytes)
Duration -- duration of loaded file in Min:Sec: Ms
Sample Rate, Resolution, Channels -- the format of the loaded wave and simultaneously the current record format.
> PlayBack Statistics
After playback is over the Wave Statistics field displays the following information:

- Max Volume is the absolute maximum sample value given in decibel form. The signal values range from –70db (soft) to 0db (loud).
- Average Volume represents the average volume of the entire recording.
- Max Signal is the absolute maximum sample value of the recording. The value 0% signifies the absence of signal (silence) and the value 100% signifies maximum possible signal.
- Clipping The warning of possible clipping appears in this field if the amplitude of the sampled signal gets too high, such that a 16-bit (8-bit) number is not large enough to represent it. In this case the signal is clipped (cut off) at the maximum value. Clipping can cause clicks, pops, and distortion of the original sound.
