Syncrodyne Systems Corporation Unveils DYNAMAC™ MEDIA PLAYER®
Rochester, NY August 21, 2004 -- Syncrodyne Systems Corporation announces the completion of its prototype software package the DYNAMAC™ Media Player®. DYNAMAC stands for dynamics-based algorithmic compression and is the basis of the media player which plays digital audio comparable to the MP3 format.
The DYNAMAC compression engine is the brainchild of Dr. Chance M. Glenn, Sr. President and co-founder of Syncrodyne Systems Corporation. The proprietary algorithm provides semi-lossless compression of audio at rates as high as 30:1 as shown in a recent beta-test. "We are extremely excited about the results we've seen so far," says Glenn. "We were able to accomplish a great deal over a short period of time and we believe that there is even more that we can get out of this." Dr. Glenn, who is also an associate professor of Telecommunications Engineering Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology, believes that even greater compression ratios and higher sound quality is possible with this technique. "We've really only scratched the surface. Our goal is for lossless compression. I'm excited about the potential."
The basis of the DYNAMAC compression technique lies in an area of physics called chaotic dynamics. Dr. Glenn and his colleagues have been developing engineering applications from this realm of science for years. Syncrodyne is developing the DYNAMAC Media Player as a demonstration of a CODEC for audio, video, and image files to rival the MPEG format. Syncrodyne is seeking strategic partners or venture backing to pour resources into further algorithm improvement, and adaptation of the algorithm to image and video formats. Syncrodyne's principles envision applications in the enormous digital music and video markets, digital rights, as well as content streaming for next generation wireless communications.
Syncrodyne Systems Corporation is a cutting-edge technology development company that produces commercially viable innovations from the knowledge and expertise of its principals. Syncrodyne Systems Corporation is developing a product line of proprietary technology for the wireless telecommunications industry. Syncrodyne Systems recently moved its operations to Rochester where it resides in RIT's High Tech Incubator.
