USA TODAY TOP PLAYER COMING TO THE PRIME TIME SHOOTOUT IN TRENTON NEW JERSEY.
Monta Ellis of No. 25 Lanier (Jackson, Miss.) totaled 137 points in three victories over Mississippi schools. Ellis, a 6-4 sophomore, scored 43, 44 and a career-high 50 points (vs. Murrah of Jackson) in successive games during a five-day stretch. Ellis is averaging 34.3 points through 12 games.
Ellis will square off against St. Raymonds of the Bronx on February 8, 2003 at the Prime Time Shootout.
"Ellis alone is enough to fill the seats" says Tournament Selection Chairman Jeff Hewitson.
"However, there is another player named Lebron James sharing the bill who is drawing international attention." Hewitson added.
