Las Vegas, NV May 24, 2004 –- Unique poker promotion pits online champion against mystery player in high-stakes, heads-up match. PokerWorld.com announced today what may arguably be the single most lucrative heads-up match in poker history, and what is indisputably the only major poker championship featuring a mystery player.

Dubbed the PokerWorld Million Dollar Showdown, the event pits PokerWorld.com's online champion against 'The Pokerface,' a masked player whose identity is virtually unknown—in a televised heads-up match. Making the announcement at the 2004 World Series of Poker Tournament at Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, PokerWorld guaranteed a prize payout of $500,000 for the PokerWorld Championship Tournament and an additional $500,000 added in a dramatic, live showdown. If the PokerWorld Champion triumphs: he will win $625,000 (minimum), forcing 'The Pokerface' to unmask before the world. If 'The Pokerface' wins: his identity remains a secret and the pot carries forward to next year's event. The event begins June 1, 2004 on PokerWorld.com with initial satellites for the PokerWorld Championship Tournament.
